A crucial context for the practice of faith is speech. Speech is a dangerous gift. It’s a small faculty that can bring about immense results as a small rudder can control the direction of a large ship.
We have to be careful how we use our faculty of speech. We have to know how to control it. The way in which we use our speech–the way we control our tongue–is a determinant factor in our whole moral fiber.
If care is required for all who speak, it’s even more necessary for teachers–that is for those responsible for shaping the minds of others according to the directions of the Lord. How do I use the gift of speech in my life?
