Today, we celebrate Labor Day in the United States as a way to honor all workers and the gifts they offer society through their work. But it is more than just the outcome of the work that we honor. All workers—from the top executive to the farmworkers to the mom caring for her children—bring their hearts and souls into their work. And for that we give thanks.

Lord,
Help us to recognize and honor
The gifts that each person offers
With the work of not only his or her hands
But also the love and spirit
With which they do that work.
Help us remember to always
Treat them with the loving care
That we all deserve, no matter what their job.

Take the time to thank all the workers you encounter today and let them know how much you appreciate them.
