open your senses to creation; hands holding a pine cone, Meghan Schiereck/Unsplash

Reflect

William Blake asserts that “when the doors of perception are purified, you will see everything as it is—Infinite.” Francis kept his senses open. He saw God in beggars and bishops, wolves and worms, the birds of the air and the fish of the pond. All creation revealed God’s wise creativity and love. For those who open their senses, despite its tragedy, we live in a beautiful world. Beyond the tumult of national uncertainty, God sings through all creation.

Pray

Loving God, wake me up to wonder,
Inspire me to see beauty,
Heal my senses
So that your presence comes to me in every encounter.
As I add beauty to this good earth.
Amen.

Act

Seeing the beauty of life is a choice. Living in wonder is a choice. Look beyond your stress and strain today. The challenges of life are real, and we often succumb to fear. Make a commitment to see the big picture of God’s loving and wise creativity, often hidden, as go through the day. Pause, notice beauty even in tough situations, give thanks, and act with intentionality born of a deeper vision of life.
