It Takes Courage

Reflect

Saint Joseph of Arimathea was finally ready to make public his love for Jesus. The horror of the crucifixion was overwhelming. His desire to properly bury Jesus overcame his desire for covertness. He openly went to Pilate and requested permission to take Jesus’ dead body down from the cross. What does his example of courage mean to you today?

Pray

Saint Joseph of Arimathea, please pray for me today.
Pray that I too, may show courage in revealing my love for Jesus
even in those dark, challenging, confusing moments,
even when I risk ridicule or my neighbor’s scorn.
Amen.

Act

Remember the 13th and 14th Stations of the Cross the next time you next attend a funeral. Ponder too the brave actions of St. Joseph of Arimathea. Ask for his intercession for the deceased person.
