No one should undertake a life of prayer and devotion thinking it will make them holy, eradicate all suffering, or assure a comfortable, successful life.

Be confident! Trust in God to handle the future.

Karl Rahner wrote: "The great mistake of many people is to imagine that these whom death has taken leave us. They remain!"

Whenever we trust in his plan for today and tomorrow, we are building up a savings account for those days ahead that may present real challenges and difficult problems.

If we make room for this prayer in our poverty of spirit, we make room for the great truth of life: God is love, and we are his beloved.

Take some quiet time, and in that silence find God—or let God find you.
