This saint reminds us that, in our own way, we carry Christ on our shoulders and in our hearts across mighty rivers.

Clare’s name means “light.” She is the bright, shining one who reflected God’s love into the world.

It is not a matter of “carrying God inside us.” That would be too mechanical. It’s better to say that we are filled with God’s presence within us—along with our weaknesses and imperfections.

In intercessory prayer, I speak to God on behalf of another and their petition, be it a person, situation, or a community.

Jesus is with us now and assures us he will not leave us orphans.

The answer God promises to give to you or me will be unique to each of us.
