I know many of us feel disjointed right now, unsure of how we will ever feel whole as a nation again or engage in peaceful, fruitful dialogue.

It's often when we feel most abandoned that God is closest to us. We get in the way of that union, but God knows are steps before we make them.

In prayer, we merely keep returning the divine gaze, and we become its reflection, almost in spite of ourselves (2 Corinthians 3:18).

I have found a tremendous amount of foundational stability, trust, and comfort in the generosity of others.

This is what Jesus desires to invite us into: a contentment that is not dependent on who we are but on who he is.

The last line of St. Francis’ prayer presents us with one of the paradoxes of the spiritual journey.
