Jesus reached out in teaching and in action because people needed him. They were troubled and abandoned. They needed a shepherd, and the shepherd was Jesus.

Jesus exercises power over death and illness. Calmly, effortlessly, he cures the sick and raises the dead.

Good times are part of God’s plan for his people. No matter how grim the present reality may be, God somehow provides a happy ending.

There are chapters in the lives of most of us that we are not proud of. But Jesus can make something of us all.

Both the compassion that Jesus directed toward the centurion and the authority that he exercised over the servant’s illness is still directed toward us. How do we respond?

Jesus taught in many ways both throughout his earthly life and now. Am I attentive enough to grasp the teachings that Jesus is offering me today?
