Much of what we associate with guardian angels is based on spiritual imagination. But the reality is that God takes care of us in all kinds of ways.
All of us who are followers of Jesus are called to clear the way for him–to prepare the world around us for his coming.
The Church looks on each of the archangels as patrons of certain aspects of our world. But more importantly they represent God’s love and care for we human creatures.
At some time or other we all seek some degree of standing in the community of faith. However the criterion of greatness is childlike dependence on the Lord.
Jesus wants his disciples to know that there’s more to him than miracles. He wants them to know that suffering lies ahead so they’re not surprised when it comes.
In our association with Jesus we have to be sure that we’re dealing with the full Jesus–the criminal on the cross as well as the risen Lord.
As our intimacy with Jesus deepens we find him increasingly fascinating and intriguing–a mystery of love and generosity.
