Reflect

In Romans 13:11 we read the words “throw off the works of darkness and put on the armor of light”. The first synonyms for “armor” are listed as covering, and protection. How beautiful! Reflect on this idea of being protected, covered in light.

Pray

God, the darkness of the world
leaves me shaky, vulnerable,
even fragile.
But you are the light,
and I delight in imagining
the grace of wearing it,
of moving through my days—
moving through today!—
within it,
of trusting its strength
in protecting me.
Cover me in this armor.
Enfold me, envelope me.

Encircle me in your love.

Act

Today listen to a version of “Christ Be Beside Me”, and hear the words: Christ beside me, before me, behind me, within me, below me, above me.
