Reflect
Has there ever been a time in your life that you wondered if you were “sorry enough” to receive absolution for your sins?
Pray
Christ Most Merciful,
You instituted the Sacrament of Reconciliation
not as a tool of oppression,
but as the means of forgiveness and redemption.
As an act of abundant mercy,
You gave us poor sinners
a guarantee of our forgiveness
by the sure sign of the priest’s absolution
in the confessional.
Through that most blessed action,
we can be assured
of the forgiveness of our sins,
and the reception of the promise
of removing our sins
“as far as the East is from the West.”
Act
Tell others confused by the practice of Reconciliation that it is ultimately a mercy of God that we have an objective standard to look to in order to receive the forgiveness of our sins.
