Reflect
Do we let God into every part of our life? Or do we compartmentalize? God gets church, and holy days and most of Sunday morning . . . at least until the football game comes on. But what does God have to do with napping on the couch, clogged sinks, broken shoestrings, changing diapers, raking leaves, making dinner? What does God have to do with the normal, everyday stuff?
Pray
Jesus,
You came as a little baby and lived a life of total humanity,
touching with your presence all of creation, all of existence.
You felt hunger, you felt tired, you felt sorrow, and you felt joy.
But all that you experienced was touched by your holiness.
Let me give back to you today all that I do, big and small,
difficult and easy—I give it to you.
Act
Today, allow yourself to feel the presence of God in everything you do. Before you begin any task, make the sign of the cross. When you pause to take a break, do it again. Whatever you are doing today, share it with the Lord, whether taking out the trash, making the bed, riding your bike, eating a doughnut, reading a book, or taking a nap. There is no part of your life that isn’t an opportunity to encounter Christ, no chore too humble, no moment too miniscule, that God isn’t already there—waiting for you.
