Jesus has told the apostles that he is going away and that the spokesman–the advocate–is coming who will set things right. The Holy Spirit–our defender and our advocate–is still at work today bringing the life and death of Jesus into full effectiveness for the salvation of the world.

The “Catechism of the Catholic Church” says that “No one is father as God is Father” (CCC 239). It is also true that no one is mother like Mary, and no one is friend, brother, or king like Jesus. At its core Christianity is still good, true, and beautiful.

Supreme Court sides with Arizona in death penalty cases
In a 6-3 ruling May 23, the Supreme Court said two Arizona death-row inmates could not present new evidence of ineffective counsel they said they received in state trials during their federal appeals.
