Sharing the Word for September 2, 2021

Thursday of the Twenty-second Week in Ordinary Time

September 2, 2021
Daily Reading from the USCCB: Colossians 1:9-14

Paul now tells the Colossians what he prays for on their behalf: to be filled with the knowledge of God’s will; to walk in a manner pleasing to God; to be strong in endurance and patience; to be joyful in giving thanks to God.

All of this involves their participation in the redemption that comes to us through being taken into the kingdom of Christ. This is a kingdom that includes the forgiveness of our sins and liberation from the powers of darkness.

What Paul asks for from God for the Colossians constitutes the agenda of every Christian life. We have all been transferred into Christ’s kingdom. God expects us all to grow and flourish there in the joy of giving thanks to the Father.
