Sirach has sought wisdom through prayer and study, through instruction and purification from sin, and–most important of all–through ardent desire.
In the process of his search for wisdom he has found joy and happiness. He has been gifted by his teacher God, and expresses his gratitude to God for what he has received.
All of us are called to engage in the pursuit of wisdom. It’s what gives direction and meaning to our lives. It’s a pursuit to which we can rightly dedicate our whole existence. It’s one of the principal ways in which we grow to know God, in which we stay in touch with him. May the Lord direct us in our pursuit of wisdom. May he make our search fruitful.
