We are all masters, we are all experts, when it comes to justifying ourselves.
Guilty by association. While a concept that does not stand up in a court of law, we know that it is a very powerful force in the court of public opinion. When someone does something bad, the moral character of everyone around them is called into question.
A delicious meal, a beautiful symphony, a hot shower. With five senses and billions of nerves, there are an infinite number of ways to experience pleasure from the world around us.
The Eucharist cannot exist in isolation from life.
In the face of so many wounds that hurt us and could harden our hearts, we are called to dive into the sea of prayer, which is the sea of God’s boundless love, to taste his tenderness.

Humility is the guardian and ornament of all virtues. If the spiritual building does not rest on it, it will fall into ruin.

At our Baptism, the priest anointed us with sacred chrism and said that we were now identified with Jesus in his roles as priest, prophet, and king. As a priest, we are to offer sacrifice and we do this by participating in the Eucharist, offering both ourselves and the sacrifice of Jesus to the Father. As a prophet, we are to witness to the good news bringing peace and justice to all we meet. And as a king, we are to share in Jesus’ role of ordering all things toward the Father in the Holy Spirit.
Father, grant me the grace to take Jesus seriously and trust him to always be by my side and in my heart when I am beset by disturbing problems that threaten to destroy my peace of mind and spirit. I ask this grace in Jesus’s name, Amen.

When love occurs, it appears to be something happening only between two people. But thinking of it in that way makes love very small and ordinary. When you truly love, it is the beautiful Being you are seeing and loving, even though your eyes may be looking at another person. If you let love lead you, it will carry you to the greater Love. And your eyes will be opened to many beautiful things.

God is not an idea or a concept for you to grasp. God is not something to be studied or something to define. No definition would be wide enough. God can never be fully contained by words or be understood by the human mind. You cannot define God but you can be with God. You can know God.
