God tells Moses–and the Israelites–his name. He is “I AM”, the God of their fathers–of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.

We all grow up as members of a particular family. Each family has a unique culture that shapes and forms those who are a part of it.

In this week’s Gospel, Jesus tells the disciples to go and rest after they return from their journey of spreading the Gospel message to others.

Today’s Gospel invites us into a desert wilderness with Jesus as our shepherd and guide. Along with his disciples we’re invited to “come and rest.”

God appears to Moses in a burning bush to give him directions for the next stages of his life. God is with all of us. He leads us where he wants us to go.

As a mother of four, quiet time is in short supply. But our faith provides plenty of avenues for reflection, such as prayer and meditation.

When Moses became an adult he took the law into his own hands and became a guerilla warrior, defending his Hebrew kinsmen against the power of the Egyptians.

Everything has some meaningful connection to everything else. Everything belongs, everything matters.
