When Joy Swims
Like many who follow Francis, I’ve read “Canticle of the Creatures” over the years, but recently sought it out again for the words “to you alone, Most High, do they belong”.
Find what you’re looking for

Like many who follow Francis, I’ve read “Canticle of the Creatures” over the years, but recently sought it out again for the words “to you alone, Most High, do they belong”.

Does God have a specific minute for us to die—known to God before each of us is born?

Francis treated animals kindly because they pointed toward God. Do you allow the animal stories about Francis to point you toward God?

What is it we are looking for? What kind of reward do we want from this world when we are already being made glorious in the eyes of God?

My favorite time of year has always been autumn. I love watching the colors of the trees erupt into blazing colors of orange, red, and yellow.

Many of us feel overwhelmed by work, family responsibilities, finances, and a crammed calendar. A young mom, a retiree, and a religious sister share ways to experience Franciscan joy and simplicity amid the busyness of modern life.

Consider observing this ancient holy season to renew and enrich your spiritual life this autumn.

Perhaps that is the singular lesson Francis left behind: God is within us; therefore, we are not only capable, but called to be holy.

I’ve always been fascinated by how St. Clare drew so close to God in prayer while living most of her life entirely within the enclosure of San Damiano.

There are a lot of people who could use some “medicine of mercy,” and our faith is calling us to provide it.
