Reflect

According to the parable, the mustard seed is “the smallest of all seeds…” (Mk 4:30-32). What does it mean that Jesus says that the Kingdom of God is like a mustard seed? Something tiny, unseen, a lowly seed that could easily go unnoticed… A word of encouragement, a hug, an invitation to sit down and talk, a smile… It might not sound like much, but through even the tiniest acts of love, the Kingdom of God is sown.

Pray

Father of Love,
Let my every word, my every act,
no matter how small,
sow the seed of Your love today.
And let my every prayer be only this:
Thy Kingdom come.

Act

Commit yourself to kindness today, to letting others go first, even in traffic, to noticing their needs and sharing your gifts, to making them welcome and offering them care.  Visit an elderly neighbor, call your parents, or grandparents. Pick up trash, or wash the dishes without being asked, and without expecting any thanks. Every small act of kindness plants a seed.
