Reflect
When we think of nourishment, our first thought is probably related to our bodies, specifically food. And while physical nourishment is, of course, very important, we can also be fed in many other ways, such as mentally and spiritually. We must not forget those. We can also extend nourishment to others, doing so through something as simple as offering a listening ear or more actively by volunteering in some capacity. How we receive the blessing of nourishment can be very diverse and personal. How we extend it to others can be just as important.
Pray
Generous God,
you are the first source of my many blessings.
I thank you for my family and friends
who support me as I work to strengthen my spirituality.
They also sustain me when they prepare
their signature dishes and invite me
to eat at their welcoming tables.
For both gifts I am thankful.
Act
Among friends, I have a reputation as a note writer, especially thank you notes. After large family cookouts or small meals at friends’ homes, I waste time finding just the right card to send with a note of gratitude. They are often surprised, always grateful. Is this a habit you might build into your life?
