woman being sad and hiding her face behind her arms

Reflect

A few months ago I had to attend an extended-family event that was giving me incredible anxiety. I dreamt I was in my car driving backwards through debris and messes. Upset and panicking, I steered crookedly in reverse, trying to not damage my car by hitting objects and trash. When I awoke, I felt guided to reexamine my own perceptions of the painful parts of the past. “Going backwards” was not safe. It was time to move on, to forgive. Then, at the event, I was shocked to discover new beginnings. What aspects of your past might you be ready to let go of, for greater freedom and light?

Pray

God, I am so grateful
for your grace
in helping me to let go of the past.
Yes, I was hurt.
You were alongside me
through all of it.
Only you know.
But as we walk together,
you also lead me.
Help me look forward,
not backward.
With you, healing is always ahead.
Take me to new places.

Act

Read Psalm 23 as if for the first time.  How can God, today, “restore your soul?”
