How dramatic and alluring is Micah’s statement that “God, who delights in clemency, and will again have compassion on us.

What I love is that Psalm 139 takes us all the way back to when we first became. It reveres the beauty of our very beginnings and returns us to the miracle of our mothers.

Psalm 139 is, and always will be, a gorgeous piece of writing expressing the truth that not only does God know each of us, God has actually been alongside us, in ways no human being ever could,

I’m now a seeker of these tree pietas, because they remind me of how the psalms catch me.

What the psalms began to teach me is to stay true to my human grief, to articulate it, to bring the fear and frustration straight to God.

That is what holy moments always feel like: I am great beyond belief and I am a little dot in the universe. This experience only needs to happen once, just as it did for Peter, James, and John.
