Become Your True Self

“Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.” —Psalm 119:105

Let’s face it! We are all a bit of a mystery to ourselves. In the fifth century BC, Greek philosophers had an inscription on the doorposts of their schools that read: “Know Thyself.” Christianity took it a step further and said that the key to knowing oneself is love, the sincere gift of oneself to another. To know the deepest, most truthful realities about myself, I must come to know and be loved by my loving Creator. In Jesus, God took on a human nature to relate to me. Knowing that God loves me personally helps me to know who I really am. I am God’s own child destined to grow in love for him and others in this life and to spend my joyous destiny with him and others in heaven.

Prayer Lord, help me to know myself as you know me. Amen.
