Day Twenty: A Catholic Family Advent

Scripture

I have a testimony greater than John’s. The works that the Father has given me to complete, the very works that I am doing, testify on my behalf that the Father has sent me.

— John 5:36

Reflection

These days, people are much more on the go than during Mary and Elizabeth’s time. We hop in our cars and head to the mall on a  him, run to the grocery, tote our kids to this practice and that friend’s house. Recently I saw a slogan that said, “When things aren’t adding up in life, try subtracting.” There is some real wisdom to that. Slow down, take it easy.

Talk Together

What is one thing you can stop doing that would make your life less hectic?

Prayer

Dear Lord, help us focus on what is really important and not just what we think is important.

Activity

Stay put today. Aside from essential activities, such as going to work and school, try not to go anywhere. Sometime today, watch a Christmas movie or show together, make a meal at home, sit together for dinner, or play a game. Just be together—at least for one day—during this normally crazy season.
