God’s plan is not addressed to a few special people. It is offered to everybody–good and bad, rich and poor. If the invitation is rejected at first it is offered again. God is not content until the places are full.
God gives us far more than we have earned–far more than we deserve. God is the god of generosity, not the god of strict and equal justice.

The Solemnity of the Assumption and today’s reading from Revelation teach us that Mary represents the whole people of God, that she is an image–a model of the Church.
Sometimes people think they have to earn God’s attention so that God will take care of them. That’s not the way it is. What we have to do is acknowledge our weakness and be willing to have God deal with us as his children.
Some people are not called to marriage. They are called to be single for the sake of the kingdom, but these are the exception. For most people marriage is the norm.
