Temples, cathedrals and church buildings are signs of the presence of God in our midst. That’s why we honor our churches and offer thanks for them.
Money can lead us astray if we’re not careful. But it can also be used productively as a means to the spiritual end to which we are called.
Our pursuit of the kingdom calls for initiative, effort, exertion. Jesus invites us to make use of the opportunities that are presented to us in our pursuit of salvation.
It isn’t our response to God that is important. What is important is the Lord’s illogical eccentricity, based not on our worth but simply on his love for us.
Jesus makes clear that discipleship is demanding. It requires effort and commitment and the generous expenditure of our resources.
