Toward the conclusion of his public ministry Jesus speaks about the destruction of Jerusalem and his own return at the end of time.

Jesus says that there is life after death, but a different kind than we are used to. We Christians believe in the resurrection of the body and life everlasting.

Jesus makes himself and his teaching known in and through the Church. Despite its sinfulness and limitations the Church is essential to his mission.

The visitations of the Lord can be occasions of fear and trembling. If we are not in harmony with the Lord, his presence to us can only be in discord.

We too, await the final coming of Jesus’ kingdom. We too, are called to work hard at Jesus’ affairs until he comes.

In his outreach to Zacchaeus, Jesus is also inviting us to reach out to him. Our care for those in need and our desire for justice constitute an effort to see Jesus.

We all have limitations and deficiencies to present to the Lord for his attention. Jesus will answer us if we keep calling out to him.
