Pray for Peace Like St. Francis

Francis of Assisi may not have written the words of the Peace Prayer attributed to him, but he certainly lived them.

Throughout this canticle, we have seen how Francis saw God’s goodness, radiance and beauty in all creatures.

As we Catholics believe in the redemption of all things, we can imagine other animals and creatures present in God’s kingdom as well.

In canonizing Anthony in 1232, Pope Gregory IX spoke of him as the “Ark of the Testament” and the “Repository of Holy Scripture.”

One day, when Anthony came down from the tree to join the other friars for lunch, he became seriously ill.

Will we see our pets and other creatures in the next life? Only God can answer a question like this.

With God’s help through the intercession of the saints, may our world be set free from war, violence, and terrorism.
