Time and again, my little worldview is shaken by something wider; my plans are almost always dashed by bigger, better ones.

While there is nothing wrong with hoping for success in our lives, our faith is destined for problems if it becomes an expectation we cannot live without.

If we want to follow Jesus, we must let go of our hopes and expectations, our visions for the future, our demands for the present, and remain radically open to what God is doing right in front of us.

Christ calls us to the here and now. He wants us to be present to people and things that actually make a difference.

If we want to be disciples of Jesus Christ, following him in complete freedom and without any reservation, the first and most important thing that we must let go of is ourselves.

We cannot call ourselves disciples, those who follow after Jesus and call him master, if we refuse to let him transform every part of us
