Sharing the Word for December 24, 2021

Friday of the Fourth Week of Advent

December 24, 2021
Daily Reading from the USCCB: Psalm 89: 2-3, 4-5, 27, 29

We approach the Christmas celebration with a song in our hearts to the Lord. Our text from Psalm 89 invites us to sing out God’s goodness and faithfulness. It recalls his perennial kindness, and the covenant–the loving agreement that he has made with his people–a loving agreement that would last forever.

God takes joy in proclaiming himself our father, our rock of defense, our savior. We belong to him. He will never walk away from us. He has guaranteed that his goodness toward us will last forever.

At Christmas we celebrate not just the human birth of Christ our savior, but also the ongoing relationship of an eternally loving father toward his children. “For ever I will sing the goodness of the Lord.”
