Sharing the Word for April 27, 2022

Wednesday of the Second Week of Easter

April 27, 2022
Daily Reading from the USCCB: John 3:16-21

The dialogue between Jesus and Nicodemus has come to an end. Our present passage is a reflection on salvation by the evangelist.

God the Father loves the whole of creation and wants all creation to share in eternal life. That’s why he sent his Son into the world. The Son is sent as an agent of salvation. His mission is not to condemn. Yet if people refuse to believe in him they are effectively condemning themselves. God offers light to the world in Jesus, but some prefer darkness. They turn away from the light in their wickedness.

This passage teaches us that we are each given a choice. We must decide whether we want to live in the light of Jesus or in the darkness.
