The Church looks on each of the archangels as patrons of certain aspects of our world. But more importantly they represent God’s love and care for we human creatures.
The word holiness can have a discouraging effect on people. Some immediately dismiss it, perhaps a bit sadly, since they believe that whatever it is, holiness is way beyond their reach.

When we think of saints, “radical” may not be one of the first qualities that comes to mind, but they were, and are, true radicals because they go to the root of the Gospel message.
Although that choice can be difficult, to follow Jesus completely will bring true joy. As children of God we are promised eternal life.
Pope Paul VI wrote succinctly: “The Virgin Mary is held up as an example to the faithful for the way in which in her own particular life she fully and responsibly accepted the word of God and did it….She is worthy of imitation because she was the first and most perfect of Christ’s disciples.”
For us, the challenge of the gospel remains real. We want to save face, keep from rocking the boat, avoid the embarrassment of taking an unpopular stand. But at what cost?

When the majority of people hear the term pro-life, they immediately equate it with the issue of abortion—full stop. The reality, though, is that the pro-life issue is much broader than that. Saints, popes, and the US bishops have all addressed the issue and said so.
These days, as we face down the challenges of COVID-19, we have to adjust our way of thinking and living. What being pro-life looks like right now is taking precautions to protect those who are most vulnerable. And one of the easiest ways to do that is by wearing a mask.
