When Fear Leads to Trust

Reflect

Sometimes the world is overwhelming and fear gets the best of us. COVID 19, wildfires, hate crimes—just watching the news can be terrifying. In the Old Testament God told Joshua, “I command you; be strong and steadfast! Do not fear nor be dismayed, for the LORD, your God, is with you wherever you go” (Joshua 1:9). He says the same to us.

Pray

Dear Lord, I confess that sometimes your command to be steadfast and strong
feels impossible for me; being unafraid seems out of my reach.
Please strengthen my worried heart, bolster my sagging courage, and deepen my feeble trust.
I know that without you bravery is impossible, but with you nothing is.
Amen.

Act

Memorize Joshua 1:9 and recite it when you feel anxious or afraid.

  1. I still believe there are no atheists in fox holes despite what some atheists will insist. Although, after conversing with one atheist on the Quora website, I’m not so sure since he insists there is no God for him. Well, when he dies, he will definitely find out.
