Walking in the Light of God

Reflect

During the height of apartheid, in many places in South Africa, congregants gathered at their pastor’s home and walked to church singing “Siyahamba” (“We Are Walking in the Light of God”) as a sign of their trust in God’s protection and commitment to peace and right use of power in challenging injustice. When we feel afraid or need inspiration, we can remember to walk in the light of God, feeling God’s light and love surrounding us with every step.

Pray

God of the journey, help me walk in your light.
Walk with me as I seek to walk with you.
Faithful to the light you have given me
a
nd sharing your light to guide the paths of others.
Amen.

Act

Throughout the day, visualize yourself surrounded by God’s light. Breathe God’s light deeply and let it energize and guide you with every step. Visualize God’s light surrounding everyone you meet.
