Life Has Changed, Not Ended

Reflect

When my dad died, I found such comfort in these words from the Eucharistic Prayer in the Rite for Christian Burial: “Lord, for your faithful people, life is changed, not ended.” What a comforting thought to sit with amid the sadness and pain of our grief.

Pray

Jesus our Brother, you knew what it was to grieve and shed tears
over the death of your friend Lazarus.
Our own grief in life is welcome and acceptable to you.
Help us take hope in the Christian promise
that while a loved one’s earthly life has ended, a new life is beginning.
May we find comfort in this until we are reunited again.
Amen.

Act

Recall the names and faces of your loved ones who have passed on. Today offer a prayer or small sacrifice for their souls, trusting them always to the mercy of God.
