Teaching Our Children and Grandchildren

Father teaching son

Reflect

“Make them known to your children and to your children’s children.”—Deuteronomy 4:9b

As the Israelites continued on their journey to the Promised Land, Moses urged the Israelites to remember all they had learned and observed. He implored them to remember the laws and miracles of God—and to share them with their children and their children’s children—so that all generations following would know and appreciate all God had done for them.

Pray

Dear God,
Help me to share my knowledge of God
with my children and grandchildren.
Help me to find the right time, the right words,
and to share the faith with them with joy.

Act

Think of a recent time you taught your children or grandchildren something about the Catholic faith. How did it go? Here’s a tip: What interests you about our faith? Lean into that, and find a suitable way to share it with your children or grandchildren. If you are not allowed to share the faith with your grandchildren, be sure to say a few extra prayers for them instead.
