Saint Paul preached the authentic Christ. He wants to hold on to him. He wants the Corinthians to remain committed to him.
Free and cheerful giving results in our becoming able to give still more. Our generosity will produce gratitude to God on the part of those who benefit from it.
The ability to give–the desire to give to others–is itself a gift. How generous am I to my brothers and sisters? Why?
What the minister offers is not always what the people want and what the people want is not always what the minister knows they need.
When we say that Mary loves us, we are speaking about her determination to do what is good for us–to lead us where Jesus wants us to go.
On the Solemnity of the Sacred Heart we especially commemorate Jesus’ loving gift of himself in his death on the cross. To love the Lord Jesus is to be filled with the riches of God.
