Sharing the Word for May 6, 2020

Wednesday of the Fourth Week of Easter

May 6, 2020
Daily Reading from the USCCB: Psalm 67:2-3, 5, 6, 8

Today’s Responsorial Psalm–Psalm 67–continues the theme of yesterday’s psalm: “O God, let all the nations praise you.” The psalm calls for God to have pity on us and bless us. It calls for praise from creation in many different ways–many different contexts.

The words of the psalm pray that God’s salvation may be known among all the nations of the earth, that God might rule all peoples, that all the ends of the earth might praise Him and obey Him.

God is not just the Lord of the people of Israel, nor just the Lord of Christian believers. He is the lord of all peoples and looks for all peoples to acknowledge His lordship. “O God, let all the nations praise you.”
