Daily Reading from the USCCB: Jeremiah 17:5-10
Today God asks us what’s important in our life.
Jeremiah tells us not to put our confidence in human beings. If we put our main trust in humanity we are planting our crops in the desert. Nothing much is going to grow. However, if we put our trust in the Lord we can look forward to the strong and lasting growth of what we plant. Even in times of drought it bears fruit.
God directs us not to put our trust in the human heart. You can’t understand it and you can’t trust it. Only the Lord understands human hearts. Only the Lord deserves our full trust. To what extent do I rely on human hearts? To what extent do I rely on the Lord?
