Sharing the Word for February 21, 2022 – Seventh Week in Ordinary Time – Year 2

Monday of the Seventh Week in Ordinary Time

February 21, 2022
Daily Reading from the USCCB: James 3:13-18

One of the most fundamental lessons of goodness that Christian believers need to assimilate is wisdom. Like faith, wisdom is practical and needs to be carefully cultivated. It doesn’t grow untended. Wisdom calls for humility, and can’t flourish in the presence of jealousy and ambition and self-promotion. Wisdom is gentle, compliant, full of mercy, consistent, sincere.

But the most basic requirement of all for learning wisdom is peace. Wisdom and righteousness grow in peace, and those who would promote wisdom and righteousness–those who would be teachers of wisdom and righteousness–must cultivate peace.

Authentic teachers of faith must be humble masters of peace–must help peace flourish in the community. To what extent am I a promoter of peace in the Christian community?
