Sharing the Word for December 16, 2021

Thursday of the Third Week of Advent

December 16, 2021
Daily Reading from the USCCB: Psalm 30:2, 4, 5-6, 11-12a, 13b

This is a song of thanksgiving for deliverance. God has rescued the psalmist from harm. He has had pity on him and has helped him.

Now the psalmist praises God and gives him thanks. The time of trial has been brief and has been turned into a time of rejoicing. The psalmist offers God his thanks and invites all God’s faithful to join him in his expression of gratitude.

All of us have experienced times of trial, periods of testing when we are plunged into sadness. But God always rescues us and leads us into a dawn of dancing. The season of Advent is a time of deliverance, when God leads us again into rejoicing. “I will praise you, Lord, for you have rescued me.”
