In her short life, Sister Thea encouraged the bishops to be one with their people and addressed the high walls of separation that exist in the Church.

Around the world, many innocent people are slaughtered by hateful enemies. Terrorism is rampant, and unfortunately terrorists use God as their reason for murder.

I believe that Jesus is the great reconciler. Picture two lines, one going vertically, the other going horizontally: That’s the cross.

Sister Thea Bowman teaches us to let our little light shine, wherever we go.

Dorothy Day lived in a time replete with injustice against others, and she actively refused to fade into all the noise. Her life—marked by justice and solidarity—serves as a reminder of the gospel message.

Jesus says that many will not be saved. And those who are will need to strive to qualify for admission. Superficial commitment will not be sufficient.

Jesus’ teaching is summarized in one line: “The time is fulfilled, and the Reign of God is close at hand. Repent, and believe the Gospel” (Mark 1:15)

St. Thea Bowman? Yes! She is a saint urgently needed in this country as Americans of every color struggle to tell their stories, understand each other’s pain, and find healing.

In the cacophony of the world’s troubles, it can be difficult to find quiet. Consider how useful it is to the world to quiet yourself with prayer.
