Solidarity with the Sick

Reflect

Consider this verse from Psalm 41: “The Lord sustains him on his sickbed; in his illness you restore him to full health.”

Pray

God, it hurts to witness those who are sick and suffering.
Throughout our lives, illness can strike those closest to us.
Though we might feel anger in our powerlessness to heal them,
let us move instead toward acceptance,
for that is where grace resides.
Help us rest in the truth that our expressions of love
ease the lonely struggle of the sick.
It’s always a balm: tenderness.

Act

Don’t hesitate to reach out today to someone struggling with a physical or mental ailment. Know that the small actions you take—a card, a prayer, a phone call, a text, a bouquet—all matter.
