Living in God

“Ever since the creation of the world his eternal power and divine nature, invisible though they are, have been understood and seen through the things he has made.”—Romans 1:20

The greatest ancient Greek philosophers, Aristotle and Plato, taught that a powerful and intelligent Being was the First Cause of everything and was Pure Goodness. St. Paul spoke to the Greeks of his time about their Unknown God, in whom “we live and move and have our being” (Acts 17:28). Even in our world today, many scientists believe in an absolute, powerful, intelligent Being that began the universe and keeps it going. Most cosmologists agree that a brilliant, powerful Supreme Being began our universe some 13.8 billion years ago in what’s called the “Big Bang.” God is the One who gives power and being to all that exists. And were it not for his sustaining presence, all things would cease to exist. Today, consider this reality: You are in God, surrounded and encompassed by God, yes, swimming in God. You are swimming in the love that sustains you and me moment by moment.

Thank you, Lord, for my life—life within your life! Amen.

  1. Lord Jesus Christ, your word is life for us. May we never shut the door to your heavenly kingdom through our stubborn pride or disbelief. Help us to listen to your voice attentively and to conform our lives more fully to your word. Amen.
