Daily Reading from the USCCB: Luke 6:39-42
Jesus is speaking about the dangers of judging others. It is generally not appropriate for us to judge another because we are generally not qualified to judge. A blind person is not qualified to lead another blind person. A disciple is not qualified to lead his teacher. A person with seriously impeded vision is not qualified to deal with a person suffering from a lesser impediment.
We are all limited in one way or another. None of us is fully equipped to render judgment. There are times when judging others is called for of course, but we have to be very sure that we ourselves have as great a measure as possible of appropriate qualities to do the judging. Otherwise, we are simply being unjust.
