Sharing the Word for May 19, 2022

Thursday of the Fifth Week of Easter

May 19, 2022
Daily Reading from the USCCB: John 15:9-11

To love and be loved are among the deepest experiences that human beings are capable of. Today Jesus speaks of his love for his disciples–a love that reflects the love between him and the Father.

The love that Jesus extends to us is the same kind of love that exists in God between Father and Son. It would have been inconceivable to think of that kind of love being offered to a creature, and a sinful creature at that. But that’s in fact how God loves us–all of us.

Jesus invites us today to take joy in the awareness that we are loved–loved with the same love with which Father and Son love one another. It’s almost more than we dare imagine.
