Daily Reading from the USCCB: Acts 20:28-38
Paul’s farewell discourse to the Ephesian elders continues. He has already spoken about the quality and dedication of his ministry to them. Now he speaks of the dangers that lie ahead of them after his departure. False teachers will pervert the truth. The leaders of the church of Ephesus will need to be watchful.
They will also have to care for the material needs of their people, following Paul’s example in the use of money to assist the poor. Then he takes leave of them. Paul’s farewell discourse is filled with assurance and encouragement for his people. He expresses deep affection for them and they for him.
Believers today know that they owe love and gratitude to those who bring them the ministry of God.
