Sharing the Word for March 6, 2021

Saturday of the Second Week of Lent

March 6, 2021
Daily Reading from the USCCB: Micah 7:14-15, 18-20

Micah was a contemporary of Isaiah, though some of the material found in the Book of Micah is of much later date. In our reading the author first prays for the prosperity of the people. Then in a kind of litany of forgiveness, he speaks of the blessings that God offers to them.

God removes their guilt, pardons their sins, delights in clemency. He does not persist in anger. He has compassion on his people and treads their guilt underfoot. He casts their sins into the sea. He shows them the same faithfulness he showed to Abraham. It’s as if God can’t find enough ways to describe how he loves his people.

This is the same God who loves us and offers us his forgiveness.
