Sharing the Word for July 15, 2020

Daily Reading from the USCCB: Matthew 11:25-27

Not all Jesus’ hearers rejected him. Some accepted what he was saying. They were the childlike–those who were simply seeking the Lord, seeking salvation. They were not able to bear the complicated demands of the Jewish ritual law, but were looking for a loving relationship with their heavenly Father.

Jesus says that the Father provides the response to this desire of the childlike. The Father grants what his children need, and he grants it through the Son–to those with whom the Son wished to share it.

You don’t have to be a theologian or a canon lawyer to be saved. But you have to be childlike–aware of your weakness–and willing to accept what the Lord has to offer. Am I childlike?
