When the ache of our conscience reminds us that we are not right with God, may humility lead us to repentance.
We are to confess with our mouths that Jesus is Lord and believe in our hearts that God raised him from the dead. Then we will be justified.
We might think of patience as trust through time. And our perception of time changes as we grow older.
Gazing upon crucifixes and murals was a common practice for centuries, especially before personal copies of the Scriptures existed. It might be helpful now to reclaim this practice.
There may have been difficult times in your life: a failure, or a struggle with a sense of unworthiness before God. But hopefully what followed was forgiveness and realizing that God never stops loving us.
Isaiah, reminds us that God is merciful, that God loves us just as we are, that in spite of our weakness and sin, God is always ready to welcome us home, to bring us back to level ground.
We’re surrounded by so much noise on a daily basis. It’s almost as if we’re afraid of the quiet—afraid of sitting alone with ourselves without some sort of distraction.
God’s plans are to set things right–to bring all creation to fulfillment. He wants to bring them into the final glory of his heavenly city.
Advent reminds us that the One who has come into the world and is always coming into our lives in new ways is the source of our salvation.
We’re frequently in a rush–on our way back from somewhere only to be racing off to another destination. Psalm 46 offers us these beautiful words as a salve: “Be still, and know that I am God!”
