Since 1893, Franciscan Media has sought to inform and inspire Catholics and others across the country and throughout the world. For many years, our principal communication was St. Anthony Messenger—still the number-one national Catholic family magazine. Though this publication has kept pace with the times over the years in content and appearance, we have expanded our efforts in both form and outreach.
Since the 1970s, the Cincinnati Franciscans expanded their media ministry to include parish handouts and books, then later audio recordings, and video production. In more recent years, we have built a booming internet and social media presence. We reach literally millions of people each year, across the globe with the liberating message of Jesus Christ—in the spirit of St. Francis of Assisi, founder of the Franciscans.
Recent decades have seen a convergence in all forms of media. We seek to continue to provide resources in print, audio, and video that will inform and inspire the next generation in the spirit of Saint Francis. On our recently launched new site and through all of our social channels we look to connect the growing digital community in spreading the Good News of Jesus Christ. After all, it is our mission!
Franciscan Media is a Catholic media house in North America. We are proudly based in Cincinnati, Ohio’s historic Over-the-Rhine, where the Franciscans have ministered since the 1800s. We operate as a not-for-profit ministry of the Franciscan Friars of St. John the Baptist Province in the Order of Friars Minor.
